MARCH 4: The highlight of the season, BookMania!, returns on March 4 to the Jensen Beach High School from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  The most prestigious literary event on the Treasure Coast will feature 12 authors in multiple panel discussions including Health and Wellness, Historical Fiction, Young Adult and the Discover Great New Writers panel presented by Barnes & Noble. The Young Adult panel is sponsored in part by the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs and the Florida Council on Arts and Culture. BookMania! is free and underwritten through the generosity of donors of The Library Foundation of Martin County. Tickets are not required. MARCH 3:   “A Literary Affair” fundraiser cocktail and dinner party welcomes the BookMania! authors to Stuart. It will be held on the evening of March 3 and is limited to 100 guests. The intimate setting offers guests the unique experience of meeting and talking with the BookMania! authors. Sponsorships are available by contacting the Foundation office at 772-221-1409.

CONCERT SERIES: Continuing a tradition begun in 1999, the Elisabeth Lahti Concert Series will feature four concerts this year at the Cummings Library in Palm City; concert time is 2 p.m.: The Jazzy Boys and Mia: Remembering the ‘50s and ‘60s Through Music and Song, January 21; Ian & Ani Duo (Cellist Ian Maksin and Pianist Ani Gogova) on February 18; Paraguayan Harpist Marcos Vega (with Clark Hower) on March 11; and Terry Barber, Tenor and Countertenor, and Lorrianna Colozzo, Soprano: Some Enchanted Afternoon on April 8.  Free tickets may be picked up the Tuesday before each concert at the Cummings Library. Additionally, Peter Pertis will present the Beauty of Classical Piano, Part VIII at the Blake Library on February 4 at 2 p.m. Tickets will be available on January 19 from 6-7 pm in the John F. (Jack) and Rita M. Armstrong Wing of the Blake Library There is a limit of 2 tickets per person.

May 2017: The Foundation will present the second annual Young Literary Leaders award program to encourage and celebrate the love of reading among young readers in late May. The initiative recognizes a pair of students, one girl and one boy, from each of the 12 elementary schools in Martin County who display exceptional reading motivation. Each student will receive a certificate and a Barnes & Noble gift card.
