William “Bill” Deacon
President, Friends of the Palm City Library
Bill is President of the Friends of the Cummings Library in Palm City. He and his wife Nancy have been active in Palm City since moving here in 1979. They are both originally from Andover, Massachusetts where Bill taught high school chemistry. In Florida, he was a chemist at Bio Analytics Laboratory and later was employed by Awareness Technology, Inc.
Since retirement in 1998, Bill has done volunteer work at the Cummings Library, the YMCA, the White Doves Christmas Project, and is a ham radio operator in support of Red Cross shelters and emergency operations for Martin County.
